Can a Guardian control a wards religious beliefs and drain a bank account?

Guardianship's and conservatorships can be a good or a bad thing depending on who's managing the wards lifestyle and choices. In this case all of Jim's rights have been striped. And this is common in Guardianships as the Guardian legally has more power than a natural born mother or adopted mother and can alienate the ward from speaking or seeing anyone based upon their own wishes. A Guardian can legally charge the ward whatever they think is reasonable for their time or for dinner -- or trip expenses. Practically, they have the power to wipe out a wards entire bank account without being questioned by simply saving receipts and filing an annual report with the probate courts.

**In the photo you can easily see Jim being pulled by his caregiver Libby (Elizabeth) who works for Optimae Life Services in Washington, IA.

A Guardian can take away the wards freedom. Choose how their medical care is handled as well as religious freedoms. Jim's Guardian claims that he has the mentality of a 5-8 year old and cannot make his own decisions. However, Jim has always been one of the more higher functioning individuals in Washington CO.
