When DHS (Department of Human Services) fails to investigate a claim of dependent adult abuse and closes the case without reaching out to all mandatory reporters who witnessed the incident what's the best route of action?

Meleia Wuthrich working out of Washington County needs to be held accountable for not following through and thoroughly investigating the incident involving James Perry Davis and his Guardian Katherine Kerr-Davis.

Where he was shoved into a bathroom and pulled around a church like a rag doll. The only place I can think of would be the Office of the Ombudsman. Ideas?

We have a new guardian ad litem and she's doing her job!

Think positive and positive will happen. 

Words cannot express how grateful  I am for the current guardian ad litem (GAL), Katie. After nine months with Patricia Lipski mom and I became used to being ignored and effort was non existent on her behalf. We initiated all calls, text and e-mails and after one week Katie has already made an effort to reach out to both of us. It feels as if  a weight has been lifted off our shoulders and we can begin to breath and live again. If only Jimmy could be here life would be complete. <3

No visitation rights for friends or family of a ward in Guardianship!

 "There are no visitation rights afforded to friends or family of a ward in a guardianship proceeding under Iowa Code Chapter 633. It is the duty of the guardian to provide the care, comfort and maintenance of the ward. Iowa Code Section 633.635. This Court believes that implied within this duty is the right of the guardian to, within reason, limit the contact the ward may have with others if it's in the ward's best interests to do so. At the same time, this right is not unlimited, and inappropriate limitations on contact between the ward and others may give rise to applications to specifically limit or delineate the powers of the guardian, pursuant to Iowa Code Section 633.63, 633.65 and 633.633."

"Notwithstanding this finding, the Court suggests that both Misty and Katherine find ways to improve their communication and to allow future reasonable contact between Misty and Jim, as will promote Jim's best interests."

Guardianship of a disabled ward: WCDC Washington, IA.

We all think of Jim daily. Some more then others. This is not just for Jim but countless others who are down this path or may have similar path in the future!

Jim you are loved by many and we won't stop till you are home!

They may be just a glimpse but all of us embrace the pictures and update like gold. Cause to each of us involved in helping it is priceless!
