To Nevada and national Elder Protective and Civil Rights Leadership,
We
wanted to pass on recent segments by KTNV-ABC News of Las Vegas and two
recent issues of The Vegas Voice of Henderson, NV. We continue to
identify suspect rulings by Judge Charles Hoskin the presiding judge of
Clark County Family Court and potential elder exploitation by assigned
guardians and their lawyers. Investigations of over 30 open cases in
Clark County family court records and interviews with family members
revealed with more than $16,000,000 in losses by the families and yet
their loved one was assigned to a private guardian and few additional
services were provided the disabled person.
These
rulings are happening more often and becoming more egregious in nature
in Clark County. Both ABC News and The Vegas Voice plan more segments
to further demonstrate the rampant nature of the court’s rulings. Judge
Hoskin’s quotes in the attached videos are quite disturbing as in many
cases the actions of his court are contrary to his statements and as the
leader of the court he appears to rationalize incompetence, apathy, or
worse. My greatest concern is after more than 10 years of questionable
rulings from this court and our personal efforts over the last year to
expose what is going on nobody in power has stepped up to investigate or
push for change. Clark County’s wealthy disabled elderly and their
families deserve better than this!
Please
review. If you have any suggestions please feel free to contact me,
Darcy Spears, Kean Bauman or Dan Roberts in Las Vegas.
